Even throughout the first week of class, I began to think “How can a whole course surround the topic of the hero’s journey?!” Of course, Marlen proved me wrong. This course is describable in so many words; liberal, fun, exciting, interesting, useful, sometimes time consuming, funny, serious, a little bit of psychology, a little bit of history, and a lot of literature. Now that I have succeeded in this course, I think of this course as a gift. We all worked hard and thus were rewarded. I am sure if I had any other techer besides Marlen the class would have been more restricted, boring, hell, stupid, or a waste of time to fulfil that liberal studies program. I had Marlen last semester for another english class. This class was even better and I found myself learning more when I thought that would be doubtful. I really did enjoy and benefit from almost every aspect of the class. The only part I found redundant were the group discussions, just day after day. Other than that, everything was helpful. I feel we did much much more than we would have in another class.
