BEFORE:The purpose of this literature review will be to analyze the referred journals I have chosen to discuss. This is a valuable proces in writing the paper. I need to understand the development and standing of studies already done on my topic before I delve into my own research. This has many purposes. First, it will help me understand what has been done, foster new ideas, and guide my own research. Plus, it will help my audience to understand my process of choosing these works and examining them. My audience will be the edcuation field, so some of them will know more than other about education for Native Americans. Thus, I want to give some background, but I do not want it to be reguritation on what people might already know. Either way, this will help the reader understand the situation and my background on this information. This will differ from other sections on my project because I will be looking at other works of scholars and not my own. This will be external as opposed to other sections dealing with my own research. For this section of this paper, I want to have a firm grip on the prior research done on this topic so that I can feel confident with my own. I want to show my audience I understand the progression of this topic.
The purpose of this lit review was to examine the literary works I chose in order to understand the background of my topic. It helped me because I know now what has been done about my topic in the past and its development. It has also got my readers on the same page I am. This is vastly different from other sections of my paper, because it is soley talking about the literatures I chose, finding similaries and differences. The other sections of my paper have to do with my own personal primary research. I accomplished my goal in understanding the development of my topic, and also giving the reader some information without being too descriptive. This was prepared for others in this field of education-teachers of now or soon to be teachers. I hope they will read this, but if they dont I will still be satisfied with my work, because by the end of this I hope to gain better understanding myself. I tailored my writing for my specified audience to be informative without being offensive. I wanted to provide a little background, knowning some people should already know this history, but not too specific because I did not want to just repeat whats been done-it would be a waste of time and boring.
